From the KIT offices at Blackbird Studio, our engineers have worked hand in hand with John McBride and the Blackbird team to model not one, but twelve different 1073's. With John's guidance we were able to take our favorite characteristics from each unit to build the perfect channel.
Inspired by the iconic Neve 2254 compressor/limiter, the BB N54 delivers rich, analog warmth and musical dynamic control straight to your DAW. Designed in partnership with Blackbird Studio and tuned to John McBride’s personal taste, it captures the unmistakable low-end weight and harmonic depth that made the 2254 a studio essential.

Using our award winning Full Range Modeling Technology, (FRM) our team of engineers developed the BB N73 channel strip to capture the sound and character of the original hardware we all know and love.
FRM allows us to model the full frequency range from 10Hz - 96kHz giving the BB N73 all of the analog depth and color of the original gear.

With its legendary, fully discrete Class-A design, the 1073 preamp provides a classic vintage tone that has been used on countless hit records across many genres. With its meticulously modeled circuitry and authentic vintage character, the BB N73 delivers exceptional clarity and detail, while also adding a touch of subtle harmonic distortion that helps to bring out the true essence of the source material.
Modeled after the output buss of a Neve 8058 console, the final stage of the BB N73 offers additional subtle harmonic content and compression to get that weight and punch that’ll make seasoned Neve users feel right at home. The amount of saturation and compression depends on how hard you drive into it, starting with subtle transient smearing, all the way to utterly squashing your track. This master buss may be all you need to take your mixes to the next level.

Features
- Console Frequency Response: Accurately sampled from 10 Hz to 96 kHz using KIT’s proprietary Full Range Modeling Technology (FRM).
- Auto-Gain: Enhances usability as you add gain on the mic pre. The fader level will adjust the output automatically to maintain dB level.
- Continuous Gain: Optionally removes the notched movement of the mic pre gain, giving you more control of gain level.
- EQ Selection: Choose between 3 different EQ's available on the API Legacy Console.
- Master Buss: Replicates the unique tone and effect of an API master buss amp, inspired by Blackbird's API Legacy console master channel.
- Analog Hum: Sets the level of ~60Hz noise applied to the signal.
- Oversampling: Adjust oversampling from Low, Medium, or High, for higher definition or to relieve CPU of intensive processing and aliasing.
- Tooltips: Displays the amount of gain (+/-) on each EQ band (to the nearest tenth of a dB), and percentage for the Mic Pre.
- Resizable 3D GUI: You can click and drag the bottom right corner to change the size of the plugin, or select set sizes from the options menu.
- Fader Color: You can change the color of the fader between black, silver, red, blue, and teal.
- Includes: 100+ Custom Pro Presets.
